  • Private China Tours

Custom journeys across China, planned around your dates and interests and coordinated with local service partners.

  • Culture, city life and scenery — route ideas for your private journey

Beijing: history and the Great Wall

Begin with imperial landmarks, neighbourhood walks and a Great Wall day. Allow time for transfers and choose a walking pace that suits your group. Destination photograph: Mutianyu Great Wall, Nicolas Perrault III / Velatrix, CC0.

Shanghai Pudong skyline across the Huangpu River — Mussi Katz, CC0.

    Shanghai: neighbourhoods and city life

Combine the Huangpu riverfront with neighbourhood exploration and an unrushed food stop. Shanghai can add a modern city contrast to a history-focused route. Destination photograph: Pudong skyline, Mussi Katz, CC0.

Guilin river and karst hills from Elephant Trunk Hill — Shujianyang, CC0.

    Guilin: a scenery-focused extension

Add a southern landscape region when your trip length allows it. Keep outdoor plans flexible and leave enough time for regional connections. Destination photograph: view from Elephant Trunk Hill, Shujianyang, CC0.

  • Your route

Choose the destinations and experiences that matter to you. A focused regional journey or a multi-city introduction can both work, with realistic time for transfers.

    Your pace

Plan around relaxed mornings, family breaks, walking preferences and the amount of free time you enjoy. Private China tours start with your priorities.

    Local coordination

We accept requests nationwide and coordinate proposed arrangements with local partners. Your confirmed proposal explains the service scope, providers, inclusions and conditions.

  • How your trip takes shape

    1

Compare the route, local arrangements, inclusions and conditions. Adjust the plan around what matters to your group.

    3

    Confirm and prepare

Confirm the agreed services and receive practical preparation details, meeting arrangements and relevant local contacts.

  • Planning details & common questions

What can we plan for your private China tour?

Private China tours give your travelling party a route designed around your own dates, interests and pace. ChinaGuideTrip accepts planning requests for destinations across China and coordinates proposed arrangements with local service partners. Tell us whether you need a complete journey, selected guided days or help connecting several cities. The scope is agreed for your trip rather than assumed from a standard package.

A private arrangement can suit first-time visitors who want help with practical decisions, families who need regular breaks, couples with particular interests, and small groups travelling together. It is also useful when different people want different levels of activity. The starting point is a clear conversation about what you want to experience and what would make the journey comfortable.

    Nationwide planning with local partners

Our planning scope is nationwide. This does not mean every service is available on every date or that one guide accompanies every route. Depending on your requirements, different local partners may deliver services in different destinations. The proposal should identify what is arranged, how the parts connect and which details still require confirmation. Ask about the service provider and support arrangements before finalising your journey.

Private China tours can combine major cultural destinations such as Beijing, Xi’an and Shanghai with regional extensions. Some visitors prefer a single area with fewer transfers. Others want a longer introduction to several parts of the country. Start with the destination overview, then choose the places that support your interests. You do not need a complete attraction list before contacting us.

Choose the help that makes a difference

Possible planning topics include the route, guided sightseeing, transfers, accommodation preferences and selected experiences. These are subjects to discuss, not an automatic list of inclusions. A confirmed proposal must explain the services included and excluded. International flights, meals, admission tickets and personal expenses should never be assumed to be covered simply because a tour is described as private.

For a history-focused journey, spend enough time in each cultural destination to understand the places you visit. For a scenery-focused journey, allow flexibility around outdoor conditions. For a food-focused visit, discuss neighbourhoods, meal timing and dietary requirements alongside the landmarks. Custom China tours work better when the theme influences the daily rhythm, not just the attraction names.

Start with a realistic trip length

A week can support a focused introduction in two bases or one region. Ten days can create a balanced three-city journey. Two weeks can add a region or provide more rest time. Our 7, 10 and 14-day China itinerary guide explains the trade-offs. Private China tours still need realistic transfer time: a private service does not remove distance, traffic or transport schedules.

If your dates are fixed, say so early. If they are flexible, share the possible months and the experiences that matter most. Compare our seasonal planning guide before choosing a route. There is no single month that gives every region identical conditions. A useful plan adapts to your actual travel window.

What happens after we send a trip request?

Step 1: share a useful travel brief

Send your possible dates or month, the number of adults and children, your preferred destinations and your interests. Describe your pace in everyday language: relaxed mornings, substantial walking, limited stairs, regular breaks or an interest in museums. If you do not know which cities to choose, explain what you enjoy and how long you have. A China trip planner can then discuss a coherent route rather than assemble unrelated stops.

A budget range and currency can help compare the level of services, but you can say “not sure” if you are still exploring. You do not need to supply passport details or other sensitive documents in the first inquiry. Use the form to explain the trip. Any identity information required for confirmed bookings should be handled through an appropriate agreed process.

Step 2: compare a route and service scope

Review the proposed sequence, overnight bases and transfer days. Check whether the plan counts your arrival and departure as full days. A late arrival should not be presented as a substantial sightseeing day, and an early flight requires an achievable airport transfer. Ask which elements are flexible and which depend on a specific reservation or operating day.

For private China tours, clarity matters as much as the attractions. Review guiding languages, the planned hours, vehicle arrangements when applicable, accommodation preferences and the meeting points. Where a service has not yet been confirmed, the proposal should say so. A suggested experience is different from a secured ticket or a named provider’s confirmed availability.

Step 3: confirm the details before committing

Before agreeing to arrangements, review the written inclusions, exclusions, payment conditions and cancellation terms. Ask how date changes, unavailable tickets and disrupted outdoor activities would be handled. Different services may have different rules. Avoid assuming that all bookings remain freely changeable because the overall itinerary is customised.

We coordinate proposed services with local partners. Confirm who provides each relevant part and which contact you should use before and during the trip. If you are arranging some hotels or transport independently, identify the handover points clearly. A transfer should have an agreed pickup location, destination and practical meeting instructions, rather than depend on an assumption about where the group will be.

Step 4: prepare for the journey

Check current entry requirements for your nationality and journey through the relevant official authorities. A tour plan does not establish visa or transit eligibility. Keep the identity information used for tickets consistent with the document required by the operator. The official China Railway 12306 FAQ is a useful source for its English booking service’s identity requirements.

Before departure, confirm essential reservations, hotel addresses, transfer contacts and any changes to opening arrangements. For weather-dependent days, agree a sensible alternative. Private China tours can offer a more personal daily rhythm, but they do not guarantee access to sold-out attractions or exemption from official rules. Build the plan around confirmed practical information.

Keep a simple copy of the route and essential contact information accessible during the trip. Discuss how updates will be communicated, especially if different partners are involved in different cities. This makes the journey easier to follow and helps you distinguish a confirmed arrangement from an optional suggestion you may decide on later.

Can you arrange private China tours outside the major cities?

We accept requests nationwide and can discuss regional destinations as well as the major visitor cities. The feasibility of a specific route depends on your dates, transport, requested services and partner availability. Share the places you are considering, including any remote stops, so the practical connections can be assessed before the itinerary is finalised.

Will the same guide stay with us throughout China?

Do not assume this. A multi-city journey may use different local partners or guides in different destinations. If continuity with one person is important to you, include that in your request and ask what can be arranged. The final proposal should explain the guiding structure and handovers rather than leave you to infer them from the word “private”.

Can we book only selected guided days?

Tell us which parts you would like help with and which you plan to arrange yourselves. We can discuss a suitable service scope and check what is available. Be clear about your independent hotel and transport arrangements so that meeting points and timings fit. Selected services still need written confirmation of inclusions, responsibilities and cancellation conditions.

Are private China tours suitable for families?

They can be, particularly when the route reflects children’s ages, walking tolerance and need for breaks. Share these practical preferences before selecting attractions. A family plan might use fewer hotel changes, shorter sightseeing periods and more flexible meals. Any specific child-related service or equipment should be requested and confirmed, rather than assumed to be included.

Can you accommodate limited mobility or dietary needs?

Explain the practical assistance you need and the activities you prefer to avoid. Accessibility differs between attractions, transport and accommodation, so each essential arrangement needs a specific check. Dietary needs should also be discussed and confirmed with the relevant providers. We should not promise universal accessibility or guaranteed accommodation of every request without that assessment.

How are prices and inclusions decided?

Private China tours are scoped around the dates, route, group and services you request. Ask for a proposal that clearly states what is included and excluded and how changes are handled. Comparing only an overall number can hide differences in admission tickets, meals, guiding or transfers. Review the written scope before deciding whether two proposals offer comparable arrangements.

Can we change the route after planning begins?

Discuss changes as early as possible. Before confirmation, adjusting the route may be straightforward, subject to availability. After bookings are made, individual change and cancellation rules apply. Weather, opening arrangements and transport can also require adjustments. Agree the process and relevant conditions rather than expecting every part to remain flexible throughout the journey.

How do we request a plan?

Send your trip request with your dates or possible month, group size, interests and preferred pace. Include the destinations you want or say that you need suggestions. ChinaGuideTrip will use that brief to discuss your private China tours request and coordinate proposed arrangements with local service partners. No completed itinerary is required to start the conversation.
