Medical Travel to China
Receive the medical care you need — in China, with a clear plan and personal support.
China Guide Trip helps international patients and their families identify suitable hospitals and clinics, prepare the right documents, and coordinate appointments, interpretation, accommodation and travel — so you arrive informed, not uncertain.
- Free initial consultation · No obligation to proceed · Your information stays confidential
Personalized case coordination
One coordinator follows your enquiry from start to finish, so you are not passed between departments.
Multilingual patient support
Help in English, Chinese and other languages — across documents, appointments and daily needs in China.
Transparent planning before travel
Options, documents and cost estimates are laid out before you commit to anything — no surprises after arrival.
End-to-end assistance in China
From airport pickup to follow-up appointments, practical help is in place for every stage of your stay.
Medical Services
Care you can plan around
We coordinate access to established hospitals and licensed clinics across
China. Each institution sets its own scope, eligibility and fees — we help
you understand them before you travel.
Comprehensive Health Screening
A structured preventive check-up arranged over one to three days at a hospital of your choice. A typical programme combines a physician consultation, laboratory tests and imaging such as ultrasound, with results reviewed by the hospital's own doctors.
Suited for: annual check-ups, baseline health assessment, or making the most of a China trip with a thorough medical review. Exact tests are defined by the hospital you choose.
Specialist Consultation
Face-to-face appointments with hospital specialists — for example in cardiology, orthopaedics, neurology or oncology — based on your medical history. We help match your situation to the relevant department and prepare a summary of your records for the doctor.
Suited for: second opinions, specialist follow-up, or an in-person assessment when remote advice is not enough. Whether a department can help is confirmed only after your records are reviewed.
Traditional Chinese Medicine
Access to regulated TCM hospitals and departments offering acupuncture, herbal medicine, tuina massage, cupping and moxibustion, delivered by licensed practitioners. A TCM physician assesses your suitability during the consultation itself.
Suited for: those interested in a TCM-based approach — for pain management, recovery support or general wellbeing — including as a complement to conventional care where clinicians consider it appropriate.
Rehabilitation and Recovery
Structured rehabilitation programmes at hospital departments — physiotherapy, occupational therapy and recovery care after surgery, injury or illness such as stroke. Programmes are designed and supervised by the hospital's rehabilitation team.
Suited for: post-operative recovery, mobility improvement and longer-term rehabilitation, often combined with a calmer, supported stay in China. Admission requires a clinical assessment of your case.
Dental Care
Check-ups, cleaning and restorative or implant consultations at hospital dental departments and licensed clinics. Treatment plans, materials and itemised pricing are provided by the dental provider before you commit.
Suited for: routine and preventive dental care while travelling, or planning longer restorative work over one or more visits. Complex cases may require an initial consultation and X-ray assessment first.
Medical Aesthetics
Consultations for non-invasive and minimally invasive aesthetic procedures at licensed medical aesthetics clinics — where treatments are performed by qualified clinicians under medical supervision, not in beauty salons.
Suited for: those considering regulated aesthetic treatments in China and wanting a clinic they can verify, with candidacy and costs confirmed by the provider in advance.
How It Works
Five clear steps, from first enquiry to
your stay
Every step is explained in plain language, with nothing booked and nothing
paid until you are ready.
Tell us about your needs
Describe the care you are seeking, your preferred city and rough timeline in the consultation form. This first step is free and commits you to nothing.
Submit available medical records
If you have past reports, images or discharge summaries, share them so relevant departments can assess whether your case fits. No records yet? That is fine too.
Receive suitable options
We present hospitals and clinics that match your needs, with what to expect for appointments, documentation and indicative costs as confirmed by each institution.
Confirm your medical and travel plan
Once you choose, we coordinate the appointment, translate records where needed, and plan visas, flights, accommodation and transport around the confirmed schedule.
Get support during your stay in China
Interpreters, hospital accompaniment, transfers and a local point of contact keep everything running — including follow-up arrangements if clinicians advise them.
What submitting records does — and does not — mean. Sharing your documents is for assessment and planning only. It is not a diagnosis,
and it does not mean you have been accepted by, or are receiving treatment at, any hospital. Each institution reviews the material
independently and makes the final decision on whether it can accept your case.
Why Medical Care in China
Reasons to consider it — weighed honestly
China is a practical choice for many international patients. Here is what we
can say objectively, without statistics we cannot verify or promises we
cannot keep.
Wide range of medical resources
Major cities are served by large public hospitals and private institutions, many of which run international-patient departments accustomed to foreign patients. For most mainstream specialties you will have several facilities to compare rather than a single option.
Efficient scheduling for many cases
Once a department confirms your case is suitable, appointments are often available within weeks rather than the months some health systems require. Timelines are always confirmed for your specific situation before you book travel.
A genuine range of cost options
Public hospitals, private hospitals and international clinics price their services differently. You can request itemised estimates from shortlisted facilities and compare them before committing — costs in China are commonly quoted transparently per service.
Conventional and traditional care side by side
China is one of the few destinations where evidence-based conventional medicine and regulated traditional Chinese medicine operate within the same hospital systems, allowing a treatment plan to draw on both where clinicians consider it appropriate.
Travel planned around your care
With one coordinator handling appointments, transport, accommodation and interpretation, a medical trip can be planned as carefully as any journey — including rest days between procedures and, where appropriate, light sightseeing during recovery.
Language support that is the norm, not the exception
International-patient departments, bilingual clinics and professional interpreters make it realistic to receive care without speaking Chinese — for consultations, written reports and day-to-day needs alike.
A candid note on expectations
The availability, cost and outcome of any medical service depend on your individual condition and on each institution's clinical assessment.
Waiting times, fees and suitability can differ from one facility to another and from case to case. If you read a statistic elsewhere, treat it as context
— your own confirmed options are the only numbers that matter for your decision.
Destinations
Where you can receive care
These five cities host the most developed international-patient services in
China. We also work beyond this list — tell us your preferred city and we
will explore what is realistically available there.
Beijing
capital & specialist hub
China's capital hosts the country's largest concentration of nationally prominent general and specialist hospitals, several with well-established international-patient departments and deep expertise across complex and rare conditions.
- International Access - Capital International & Daxing airports, direct flights from nearly every major global hub.
- Well-suited for - complex or specialist needs, thorough second opinions, and screening at major teaching hospitals.
Shanghai
international & convenient
China's commercial capital has a dense mix of public hospitals and private international clinics serving a large expatriate community, making English-speaking services among the most common in the country.
- International Access - Pudong & Hongqiao airports — among Asia's best-connected gateways.
- Well-suited for - screening, specialist consultations, and travellers who value convenience and familiar international standards.
Guangzhou
southern gateway
Southern China's medical centre, with large hospital networks and long experience receiving patients from Southeast Asia and beyond. Close proximity to Hong Kong adds flexibility for follow-up care.
- International Access - Baiyun International Airport; high-speed rail from Hong Kong in under an hour.
- Well-suited for - patients based in Southeast Asia or Hong Kong, and southern-region logistics.
Shenzhen
modern & fast-growing
A young, fast-growing city beside Hong Kong with modern hospital infrastructure and quick, efficient outpatient services — increasingly popular for shorter medical trips.
- International Access - Bao'an International Airport; 15-minute high-speed rail or ferry from Hong Kong.
- Well-suited for - dental care, screening and outpatient procedures with a Hong Kong base.
Chengdu
western hub & TCM heartland
Western China's principal medical centre and a traditional home of Chinese medicine, combining large modern hospitals with deep TCM resources — and a notably relaxed, liveable pace for longer stays.
- International Access - Tianfu & Shuangliu international airports with growing long-haul routes.
- Well-suited for - TCM treatment, rehabilitation, and recovery stays where pace and cost of living matter.
Another city
tell us where
Need care in Hangzhou, Wuhan, Xi'an, Tianjin or elsewhere? We assess each enquiry individually: if a suitable institution exists in your preferred city, we will help you reach it.
- Flexibility - We never push a city — the facility that fits your case comes first.
- How to proceed - Name your city in the consultation form and we will be candid about what is available there
We do not claim exclusive partnerships with any facility, and we receive no incentive to favour one institution over another. Hospital options and fees are presented as confirmed by each institution for your case.
Patient Support
Practical help at every stage of your stay
One coordinator looks after the logistics so you and your family can focus
on the medical side. Everything below is handled as coordination — the
clinical decisions remain between you and your doctors.
Medical appointment coordination
We arrange consultations and procedures with the institutions you select, and confirm each booking with you in writing.
Medical document translation
Your records and hospital reports are prepared in a language both you and the treating team can fully understand.
Interpreter and hospital accompaniment
An interpreter can join you at consultations and during hospital procedures, so nothing important is lost in translation.
Visa support documentation guidance
We explain what supporting documents embassies typically request for medical travel and help you prepare them correctly.
Airport and local transportation
Arrival pickup, transfers between accommodation and hospital, and onward transport arranged to your schedule.
Accommodation arrangements
Hotel or apartment stays matched to your needs — near your hospital, with the comfort a recovery period requires.
Recovery-friendly travel planning
Rest days between appointments, gentle activities where clinicians allow, and schedules that never rush your recovery.
Updates and report delivery
Test results and discharge summaries are explained to you and delivered in a form you can share with doctors back home.
Assistance is not a guarantee. We help you prepare visa support documents, but approval decisions rest entirely with the embassy or consulate. We arrange for hospitals to review your case, but acceptance decisions rest with each hospital. We do not guarantee that any visa will be granted or that any facility will accept a case.

Questions patients ask us most
Straight answers, including the limits of what we can and cannot do.
Can you recommend a hospital or doctor?
We can shortlist facilities whose departments commonly handle cases like yours, and explain the differences between them — public versus private, location, language support, and the fees they confirm for your situation. The choice of hospital and doctor is always yours. We do not claim exclusive relationships with any facility, and we do not receive commissions that would bias our shortlist.
Do I need to send my medical records?
No — you can start with a simple description of your situation. If you do have records, sharing them lets us approach hospitals that are more likely to accept your case and lets departments prepare before you arrive. Remember that sending records is for assessment and planning only: it is not a diagnosis, and no hospital has accepted your case until it confirms so in writing.
How much does treatment in China cost?
Costs vary widely by procedure, facility type and city, so we deliberately do not publish prices we cannot stand behind. Instead, we obtain itemised estimates from the shortlisted institutions for your specific case, before you book anything. What we can say generally: fees are usually quoted transparently per service, and comparing public and private facilities can reveal very different price levels.
Can you help with a visa?
We help you prepare the supporting documents that embassies and consulates commonly ask for in medical travel cases — for example an invitation letter from the hospital, a treatment plan and proof of your appointment. Approval is decided solely by the relevant embassy or consulate, and we cannot guarantee that any visa will be granted. Check current entry rules for your nationality before making plans.
Is interpretation available?
Yes. Many international-patient departments provide English-speaking staff, and we can arrange an interpreter to accompany you at consultations and hospital procedures when you need one. Interpretation availability and any related cost are confirmed in advance, per city and facility.
Can a family member travel with me?
Yes — many patients travel with a spouse, adult child or friend, and we plan accommodation, transport and schedules with companions in mind. Some facilities may have visiting-hour or ward policies you should know about in advance; we will flag these when they apply. Every traveller, patient or companion, must meet China's own entry requirements independently.
How is my personal and medical information handled?
Your information is used only to coordinate your enquiry and your trip. Medical records are shared only with the institutions you choose, and only after you give explicit consent. We do not sell or rent personal data, and we never use your case in marketing materials. If you would like details of our retention practices before sharing anything, ask us — we are happy to explain.
What happens if a hospital cannot accept my case?
It happens, and it is better to know before you travel. If a facility declines, we discuss why and explore realistic alternatives — another department, another hospital, or, when appropriate, an honest recommendation that medical travel to China may not be the right option for your case. No hospital is obliged to accept a patient, and we will never pressure a facility on your behalf.

Risks, responsibilities and limits
- China Guide Trip is not a medical provider. We provide information, planning and travel coordination services. We do not offer medical diagnosis, medical advice or treatment, and we do not employ physicians. Nothing on this page is a medical opinion.
- Medical decisions are yours and your doctors'. All decisions — whether to travel, which facility to use and which treatment to accept — should be made by you together with licensed medical professionals. We encourage you to review any plan with your own doctor before travelling.
- Facts come from the institutions. The availability, cost, risks and expected outcomes of any medical service are confirmed by the relevant hospital or clinic for your individual case. We do not warrant the accuracy of third-party information or guarantee any specific medical result.
- No guarantees on visas or acceptance. We assist with documentation, but visa approval rests with government authorities and hospital acceptance rests with each institution. We cannot guarantee either outcome.
- Medical travel involves inherent risks. International travel, the stress of a medical journey and differences in practice standards all carry risk. You are responsible for verifying your own health, insurance and travel readiness before departure, and for arranging adequate travel medical insurance.
